My 4-Month Adventure
How to expand your possibilities without leaving the comfort of your own home…oh wait! You can’t leave the comfort of your own home!
My studio sits tucked in an old and majestic oak grove. It has a red metal roof and hunter green trim. In the warmer months wind chimes and geraniums decorate my small front deck.
Once inside, I am surrounded by all the “objects” that I have collected over the years; most artists that I know have a similar collection surrounding them as well. I have an extensive library: books about art, about artists and by artists.
Sometimes when I’m not inspired or are taking a break from a work that I am currently involved in, I take one of those books and remember all of the great artists that have come before me and wonder where do I fit in? It helps to keep things in perspective.
This is one of my favorite paintings: I love the emotion and all the depth of layers.

Getting the perspective in the barn correct was crucial to this pieces’ success.
